My name is Camron McCartney, and I’ve been a car guy for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been obsessive about the details—literally. That OCD-level focus, combined with a passion for cars, meant that from the moment I got my license, I had the cleanest car around. Friends and family saw my drive early on, but I didn’t know it would one day lead to ProTech Detailing.
I graduated from the University of Arizona in May 2020 with a degree in Urban and Regional Development & Geographic Information Systems. My plan was to work in urban planning—fittingly, my specialty was rethinking traffic flow and parking lot design. But when COVID-19 hit, everything changed. Job offers I had lined up were suddenly rescinded. I needed a Plan B, and that’s when ProTech Detailing was born.
What started as a “summer gig” quickly became my full-time passion. I loved cars, I loved cleaning, and I loved solving the gaps I saw in the detailing industry. Armed with my 2019 Honda Accord, I slapped on “ProTech Detailing Courtesy Vehicle” across the back glass with my old football number—77—so it looked like we had a fleet. Clients who couldn’t be without their cars during the day? I solved that by showing up at 6am with a loaner and bringing their car back to my childhood garage in Chandler. Big thanks to my mom for letting me turn it into a two-car workshop.
For 14 months, I ran the business out of that garage—learning, experimenting, and giving 110% to every customer. Eventually, I was introduced to a friend’s father who offered me my first shop space with 12 months free if I managed the building for him. That opportunity gave me the foundation to take ProTech to the next level. At the same time, I was valet parking at night in Arcadia to make ends meet, pouring every ounce of energy back into building this business the right way.
Fast forward to today, and ProTech Detailing has grown into the #1 rated detailing and vehicle protection facility in Phoenix. Our shop is climate-controlled, secure, and staffed by a team that shares the same passion I had from the beginning. For full detail services, we are usually able to complete these within one day. For ceramic coatings, paint protection film, and jobs requiring more working time we need a minimum of two days to complete the work and allow for proper curing times post-installation.
